Commitment to Excellence – Commitment to Excellence – Troop 466 Scouts and leaders have earned most of the highest awards in Scouting. Nearly a dozen Troop Eagle Scouts have earned their Silver Palm (15 merit badges beyond Eagle). One Scout
earned the Adams Gold Award for the best Eagle service project in the Western United States. Another Scout earned the Medal of Merit for saving a life. Five consecutive Troop 466 Eagles have won the Sons of the American Revolution regional scholarship.
Adult Troop volunteers have earned seven District Orders of Merit, two Silver Beavers (for Council service), National Eagle Scout Association Outstanding Eagle Award (regional achievement), and Distinguished Eagle Scout (lifetime national achievement). Our volunteers have also earned three Celtic Cross Medals.
Commitment to Innovation – Troop 466 was selected as both an alpha and beta site for the Boy Scouts of America’s new Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) initiative.

- A 200-mile hike across England and participation in a World Jamboree
- A 50-mile cattle drive up the Chisholm (cover story Scouting magazine)
- Restoration of a Civil War battlefield
- A 50-mile re-creation of the Lewis & Clark Journey of Discovery on the Missouri River in Montana (Boy’s Life magazine main feature)
- A 100-mile Pony Express ride and sail recreation from the High Sierra to San Francisco, including the delivery a letter to the Governor of California inviting him to join us in welcoming girls into Scouting.
- The creation of four BSA National Historical Trails
